I still remember the moment I first saw an egg shell carving.
It was at a Christmas bazaar in New York City, and the piece was labeled Czech Easter eggs. I was immediately captivated. It looked like lace—delicately carved into a real eggshell. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. That was the beginning of my journey into carved eggshell art.

Curiosity led me to explore this intricate craft. In Eastern Europe, especially in Czech Republic, painting eggs and carving them for Easter has been a cherished folk tradition for generations. These Czech Easter eggs were often given as unique wedding souvenirs or holiday keepsakes—symbols of life, purity, and devotion.
But I also discovered that this art form has ancient roots in China, where carved eggshell art carried different cultural meanings. Chinese artisans would carve scenes of dragons, landscapes, or calligraphy into duck and goose eggs, using incredibly fine tools. Whether from Europe or China, the essence was the same: turning a fragile shell into something enduring and beautiful.
The Process – Where Beauty Meets Patience

Each eggshell sculpture begins with a chicken eggs.
I gently empty and clean it, then let it dry before even starting. The carving process requires focus, and more patience than I ever imagined. It’s delicate work. And yes—many eggs break. That’s just part of it. But every time I complete a new carved eggshell, it feels like a small victory.
